We couldn't create a new partition Error 0x80042468



You get this error “We couldn’t create a new partition Error 0x80042468” when Installing Windows server 2016 with more than 2.2 TB Hard disk size.

Issue Is that by default Windows Is using MBR disk with non UEFI bios with 2.2 TB disk size limit.
To fix the Issue and Install Windows Server 2016 or 2012 you need to:
1. Set the bios to UEFI
2.Convert hte Disk to GPT.

the video will show you how to convert the disk to GPT.
Make sure your Server has UEFI bios enabled.
Once you convert the disk restart the server and set the partition to a size larger than 2TB.

  1. SOLVED (no need to CLEAR the whole drive)
    I had the same error but I solved it simply by "delete"ing that partition which I wanted to have my windows on..it'll be labeled as "Unallocated..", then clicked on it to create that partition then NEXT! Done! I did it without deletion the whole drive because I had Linux on that same drive and without using the terminal!

    I tryed your solution but dosent works. (I went through the video, and i got the dot on gpt line, and restarted the installer but
    i got same result) My motherboard is asus m5a78l-m lx3, this motherboard supports this mode? I want to use this hdd to data storage (i dont want to install windows)
